Centenary Stage Company’s Young Audience Series returns this October for its fall lineup of shows.
Taking place across one weekend, Oct. 3-5, each day will feature a new play.
Leading off the weekend is “Miss Nelson is Missing” on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 11 a.m. Miss Nelson, a teacher who’s just too nice, can’t control her crazy classroom full of ill-behaved students who take her kindness for granted. But when she disappears, her substitute is the no-nonsense Viola Swamp! With the big test approaching, the kids suddenly realize how much they miss their Miss Nelson… and they’ll do anything to get her back!
“School House Rock Jr. Live!” will run on Sunday, Oct. 4, at 2 p.m. A nostalgic experience for parents and grandparents, this catchy show is based on the Emmy-award winning ’70s cartoon series. This modernized show follows Tom, who is nervous about his first of teaching. Featuring beloved School House Rock songs, the show is a learning opportunity masked in great fun!
Monday, Oct. 5, at 3 p.m. will be “Polkadots: The Cool Kids Musical.” Inspired by The Little Rock 9, the show follows 8-year-old Lily Polkadot, who just moved to the “Squares Only” small town of Rockaway. As the first Polkadot in an all Square school, Lily faces an almost impossible task of gaining acceptance from her peers. From daily bullying to segregated drinking fountains, Lily’s quest seems hopeless until she meets Sky, a shy Square boy whose curiosity for her unique polka-dot skin blooms into an unexpected pal-ship.
The Sitnik Theatre is located at 715 Grand Avenue in Hackettstown. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children under 12.
