Women ‘Sandwiched’ Topic Of Chamber’s Event

The Sandwich Generation. A funny name for a common problem: people in their 40s and 50s who are “squeezed” between caring not only for their children, but their aging parents, as well.

On Tuesday, August 14, join Mount Olive Area Chamber of Commerce’s Women of Business at Jersey Girl Brewery in Mount Olive for a special meetup to discuss the unique issues of the Sandwich Generation. It will allow for people to meet others in the same situation and to speak with three area professionals who can help open the discussion toward better care for all parties involved.

Wendy Long, Senior Care Liaison at St. Clare’s Health SystemMelissa Nichols, Community Liaison at Heath Village Retirement Community; and Sandra Woolcock, Attorney at The Law Firm of Woolcock Patton, will cover an array of common questions the Sandwich Generation faces.

Common concerns include questions about self-care as well as care for loved ones. They include how to talk about end of life care and final wishes with loved oneshow to find support groups, organize finances, train to be a better caregiver, as well as how to know what legal documents should be in place.

Topics covered will also include how caregivers can avoid feeling overworked and overwhelmed.

The presentation and meetup will run 5:30-8 p.m. Light fare is included. Advanced tickets are available for $20 for MOACC members and $25 for non-members. Tickets increase by $5 at the door.
