Elizabeth Schafer will become the first Warren County Community College alumnus to have her artwork featured at the College’s Art Gallery.
Several representative paintings of her work will be on exhibit at WCCC, Route 57, Washington, starting Oct. 1. The exhibit runs through the end of October and is open to the public during regular college hours. The WCCC Art Gallery is located on the second floor.
Currently a senior at Drew University studying Arts, Schafer notes that “I experiment with color and paint application to evoke specific memories and emotions from the viewer. I want the viewer to emotionally interact with the works in an attempt to get them to re-examine how and why they feel those emotions.”
“We are thrilled to be able to showcase Elizabeth’s artwork,” said Tracy DiTolla, WCCC Area Chair/Teaching Administrator for the College’s Art Department. “It’s exciting for Elizabeth and exciting for us!”
Schafer is currently taking sculpting and senior studio at Drew. Senior studio is an opportunity for students to create 10 portfolio worthy works of art that will be displayed at the Corn Gallery in the Dorothy Young Center of Arts at Drew University in the Spring of 2020.
Outside of the classroom, she is the lead graphic designer for Drew Archives, a UX/UI designer mentee for Out in Tech, and a proud small business owner for customized art projects.
Professionally, Schafer hopes to secure various internships from graphic design, fine arts, and other disciplines in search for her true passion. She just wants to create art in any form and ultimately live and work in New York City.
