Washington is going green – and kicking off its award-winning farm market – with a full day of activities on Saturday June 18.
Once again the Washington Business Improvement District and the Washington Borough Green Team are partnering for the Annual Sustainably Green Music & Arts Fest on Saturday June 18 in Downtown Washington. Additionally, June 18 marks the opening of Washington’s weekly Farmers’ Market season. The festival action takes place throughout the Downtown and in Veteran’s Park.
The Sustainably Green Music & Arts Fest features terrific eco-friendly art and displays from artisans and organizations in the region, kids activities with Dove Environmental, and plenty of music.
An added attraction for the day takes place at Kids R People 2, located at 47 E. Washington Avenue (Route 57) in the center of the Downtown, where it will be featuring Juneteenth activities starting at 12 noon.
The musical line up this year starts with The Adventures of Matte Black at 11 a.m., and continues with Dende’s Recycled Sounds (pictured above), and finishing up with Big Bruce and the Messengers from 3 to 5 p.m. Gaia’s Gifts on Broad Street will also be hosting The Kid’s Courtyard with a special musical performance by drummer David Miller’s Touch Mother Earth.
Over 45 vendors are signed up to participate in the festival. The Green Fest typically includes an array of environmentally friendly vendors, activities, and other great stuff. Among the specialty vendors this year are Cosmic Debris, Peace, Love and Homemade, Trudes Design, Belle Ame Rocks, Forged by Hand, Busy Bee Wreaths, and Diva Jems/Paparazzi Jewelry.
During the course of the day, numerous services are being offered.
– Paper shredding at Serendipity – $10/box or bag
– Used electronics collection by Abilities of Northwest Jersey
– KN Butterfly Garden clothing drive
– Project Medicine Drop to safely discard unused & expired medications
