Scott McDonald, a long time supporter of the Washington Business Improvement District and one of the group’s founding members, will be honored at this year’s Washington Business Improvement District’s annual Business Recognition Meeting on Thursday, Feb. 2.
In addition to McDonald, the outgoing Mayor of Washington Borough, the WBID is recognizing the Muheisen Family, which recently opened up its third business in the Borough, Hometown Chicken on E. Washington Avenue. They previously opened up Muheisen’s Bagel & Deli on Rt. 31 and Muheisen’s Bakery on W. Washington Avenue. Also to be recognized are BASF and its Plant Manager Mike Barone for their commitment over the years to the WBID and the community at-large, and Gaia’s Gifts, one of the Borough’s newest and successful businesses.
The Recognition Reception is being presented by Home Instead Senior Care. Additional supporters of this event include ALBEA, Platinum sponsor, and Fliegauf’s Jewelers, Gold.
A longtime Councilman and Mayor, McDonald was one of the founding members of the WBID and has been very active in promoting Washington Borough businesses. The Muheisen Family has enjoyed great success with their bagel and deli shop on Route 31 and their bakery on W. Washington Avenue. They are very excited about their newest venture, Hometown Chicken. BASF has been a tremendous backer of WBID events for years and has been a key supporter of the Warren Hills High School robotics team and other community initiatives. Gaia’s Gifts on E. Washington Avenue, owned by Ellen Perkins, is now open five days a week and offers an array of unique gifts and products including essential oils and one of a kind lava lamps.
The Recognition Reception will be held at the Draught House, Route 31, Washington, from 6 to 8 p.m. Tickets are $30 in advance, $45 at the door. The evening also includes assorted appetizers and live music with the jazz trio, Loose Measure. There will be a cash bar.
