Washington To Celebrate 4th With Parade, Fireworks

Washington is getting ready to light up the sky, hit the pavement with its annual parade, and host the exciting soap box derby.

As part of this year’s celebration and the 150th anniversary of Washington Borough, this year’s fireworks display will be more awesome than ever!

It’s all part of the annual tradition called “Washington Celebrates America” and it all happens on July 4th as we celebrate the birthday of our nation in grand fashion.

There’s nothing like it starting with the soap box derby finals in the morning, the old fashioned parade stepping off down Belvidere Avenue to Broad Street at 3 p.m., and then it’s “lights out” at dusk for the fireworks extravaganza.

“This year’s fireworks display will be extra special,” said Richard Maguire, Chair of the WCA committee. “We are celebrating two birthdays on July 4th – our country’s and the Borough’s!”

This year’s Grand Marshall is Phyllis Burd, whose commitment to the Greater Washington Community has been nothing short of incredible.

Washington Celebrates America, a totally free event, is graciously sponsored by numerous businesses and individuals in and around the Washington area, and is presented by an all-volunteer group of dedicated people.

“This is always a real great event, from start to finish,” said Maguire. “We are looking forward to our best one ever, particularly with our Grand Finale sensational fireworks show.”
