Warren Hills Regional High School and Middle School students swept the top awards in this year’s Tri-County Literacy Council Young Authors Competition.
The high school winners were: First Place Essay: Bailey Asbury, 10th grade, for “Return to Filmmaking: COVID and AIDS, Media Mirrors.”
First Place Personal Narrative: Yuliana Peregrinets, 12th grade, and 2022 Valedictorian, for “Index Cards.”
First Place Poetry, Stephanie Dunlap, 12th grade, for “You are a Statistic.”
Second Place Poetry, Roisin McCluskey, 10th grade, for “Two Sides.”
Third Place Poetry, Lydia Cuttic, 11th grade, for “Dissociation.
Middle School First Place Poetry, Amelia Roberto, 8th grade, for “I Say,” which also took first place in the Warren County Consortium for Student Enrichment Young Writers’ Contest.
The Tri-County Literary Council is made up of teachers primarily from Warren and Hunterdon counties but with some members from Morris and Somerset. The council provides professional development opportunities for teachers and also sponsors the Young Authors Competition for the students of teachers who belong to the council.
The Warren County Consortium for Student Enrichment provides student programs to develop their potential in various areas.
