Warren Hills Regional High School seniors Salvatore Montero and Cody Jackson are joining an elite group of high school music performers for the 2018 All-National Honor Ensembles in Orlando, Fla., later this month.
Montero and Jackson have been dedicated choral music students in the Warren Hills school district for the past six years. Both were awarded the top score in their perspective voice parts for the 2018-19 New Jersey All State Choral ensemble. Last year Cody Jackson was also awarded a featured solo as part of the 2017-18 All State Choral Ensemble. Both Cody and Sal are exceptional members of the Warren Hills Concert Choir, Select Choir and Advanced Choir under the direction of Lauren M. Voight.
Now they will join 240 of the best choral students from across the country to showcase their talents at Disney World from Nov. 25-28 as part of the National Association for Music Education’s All-National Honor Ensembles.
The All-National Honor Ensembles performers represent collaboration and creativity in its highest musical form. The All-National Honor Ensembles consist of a jazz ensemble, mixed choir, guitar ensemble, symphony orchestra, and concert band.
Students were chosen through an intense audition process. Only 550 students across the country were invited to take part in the ensembles.
Selected students will be rehearsing a challenging repertoire in preparation for performing under the baton of five of the most prominent conductors in the United States. Montero and Jackson will perform under the guidance of Dr. Amanda Quist.
