Warren Hills and Hackettstown (both 4-1 two weeks into the season) have state ranked field hockey teams this fall, in the Top 20 selected by the NJ.com. analysts and pundits.
The Blue Streaks of Warren Hills, who have won their way into six consecutive state finals in Group Three, had their season-opening four-game win streak ended at Bridgewater-Raritan in overtime on Saturday, while the Tigers won their third consecutive shutout behind goalie Bridget Kenny.
Julia Webber made 14 saves for The Streaks against the state-ranked Bridgewater-Raritan Panthers. In a rare game in which the opponent outshot the Blue Streaks, Panthers’ goalkeeper Kayla Hnasko made seven saves.
Samantha Dugan scored the Warren Hills goal, with an assist from Sarah Korczukowski.
Earlier in the week Dugan scored a goal in a 5-0 win over North Hunterdon on Sept. 13 and contributed a goal plus an assist to a 4-0 win at Watchung Hills on Sept. 11.
Jenna Wyckoff scored twice and assisted twice against the North Hunterdon Lions. Simryn Desai and Juliana Valli also scored against North, with Korczukowski and Kate Fenner distributing assists.
Against “The Chung” Desai scored twice in a game in which The Blue Streaks outshot Watchung Hills 17-2. Korczukowski booted a goal and Maddie Summitt  dished an assist.
The Tigers roared to a 9-0 win over High Point on Saturday. The visiting Wildcats, a counterattacking team when on their game, were a worthy opponent to Warren Hills in several state tournament games in recent years.
Madison Hoskins (not to be confused with the Philadelphia Phillies’ power-hitting outfielder) led the Tigers with three goals against High Point and two goals on Sept. 13 at Hardyston in a 4-0 win against the Wallkill Valley Rangers.
Jessica Scheper added two goals in the rout of High Point, and scored a goal at Wallkill Valley.
Kayla Cichlar scored a goal at Wallkill Valley and provided a goal and assist in a 4-0 win over Randolph on Sept. 11. The tenacious Tigers outshot the Randolph Rams 26-2.
Ashley Zellars, Jordan Vandermark and Megan Doyle scored Tiger goals against Randolph. Hoskins and Sierra Castiglia assisted.
Much credit goes to those who worked hard at player development with the feeder programs, which have produced such heady field hockey fortunes at the varsity level thus far this season.
