Warren County Community Singers last fall swung back into action and produced a successful Winterfest of song after two years of pandemic-induced silence.
Now the spring season is underway and the group is seeking new or returning singers for all voice parts.
The Springfest concert will be Saturday, May 6, at 7:30 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, Phillipsburg, and Sunday, May 7, at 3 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Washington.
Enrollment is still open for singers to join the chorus. Their first rehearsal is Tuesday, Jan. 17 at 7:30 p.m. WCCS is a non-audition group that rehearses at the First Presbyterian Church, 40 Church Street, Washington, every Tuesday from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Singers come from all over Warren County as well as Hunterdon and other neighboring counties. There is a $55 music fee.
The singers are under the direction of Hunter Chadeayne and accompanist is Ann Hoyt, who has been a fixture of the group for many years.
In addition to the adult group, the singers sponsor The Children’s Chorus of Warren County under the direction of Mariah Adams, long-time choral music teacher at Allamuchy School.
Children ages 7 through 13 with unchanged voices are welcome to join without an audition. The registration fee is $25 and registration is open through October.
The Children’s Chorus begins rehearsals Tuesday, Feb. 7, at 6:30 p.m.
The Children’s Chorus of Warren County is sponsored by the WCCS and the singers are funded in part by a grant from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts through the Warren County Cultural and Heritage Division of the county Land Preservation Department.
