The summer cannot come soon enough for all of us as we continue to break out of the COVID-19 Twilight Zone of the past year.
Signs are encouraging that better days are ahead, for family gatherings, parties, outdoor events and perhaps most importantly, students at every level.
We have been planning for the reopening of our college for months. We have had some in-person classes, but truthfully not enough. Like other learning institutions we have faced many challenges in ensuring that when we do open it is as safe as possible for students, staff and faculty.
We are excited that with our first summer session, which begins in June, we will welcome students back into the classroom on a regular basis. Come the fall, we are expecting a full complement of in-class instruction, as well as new distance learning options.
The students can’t wait, the staff cannot wait, and the faculty can’t wait.
While this is great news for our community, we would be remiss if we didn’t highlight some of the terrific things we’ve been able to do despite the pandemic.
- Our remote classes were well attended, and well received.
- We helped students throughout the pandemic who were in need of food, PPE supplies and other living essentials.
- We donated holiday packages at Thanksgiving and Christmas to needy students.
- We donated thousands of PPE supplies to the county.
- We hosted a community balloon festival to provide some safe outdoor entertainment options for all our residents.
- We partnered with various companies and organizations in the community to offer assistance whenever and wherever we could.
We believe, and always have, that the community in Warren Community College, comes first. We are proud to be a part of the Warren County community and remain committed whether there is a pandemic or otherwise.
