Walking Sticks, Invasive Plants on Library’s Schedule

Brad Koller will demonstrate how to safely use a rasp to shape and refine a length of wood into a walking stick in this in-person workshop on May 7 outside at the Catherine Dickson Hofman Branch of the Warren County Library, 4 Lambert Road, Blairstown.

You’ll leave with a new skill and a beautiful object that will last a lifetime. A $10 materials fee is required for each attendee and will be collected before the start of class. The program is open to adults and teens. Children aged 9 through 12 are welcome to attend, but an adult caregiver must remain with them during the entire class. Wood, work gloves, and tools will be supplied. Please bring an apron. If it rains, class will be held inside.

For additional details, contact Kelly at kdurkin@warrenlib.org. Attendees must register in advance.

Dealing With Invasive Plant Species

Invasive plant species wreak havoc on farmland, in the wild and in your own backyard. They cause billions of dollars in damage and reduce biodiversity in ecosystems. Learn about how to identify several common invasive plants in our area and how to prevent and remediate them in this program for adults.

Presented over Zoom on Monday, May 9, from 11 a.m. to noon, with Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Warren County by Lynn Waclawski, horticulture program assistant. Register with Kelly at kdurkin@warrenlib.org
