Walking Side-by-Side: Ending Violence and Animal Cruelty

The Domestic Abuse & Sexual Assault Crisis Center of Warren County is thrilled to announce our much-anticipated dog walk fundraiser, “Walking Side-by-Side: Ending Violence and Animal Cruelty,” which will take place on October 14, 2023 from 10:30AM – 1:00PM at Meadow Breeze Park, 27 Meadow Breeze Lane, Washington, NJ 07882 (Rain Date October 21, 2023). This uplifting event aims to create awareness about the correlation between animal abuse and domestic violence while promoting empathy and compassion within our community.

Walking Side-by-Side is not just another walk in the park; it’s a powerful movement to bring light to an often unseen issue. On this special day, participants and their furry companions will walk side-by-side, symbolizing the essential bond between humans and their beloved dogs. By joining us, attendees will not only experience the joy of spending time with their pets but also contribute to a worthy cause that impacts the lives of both animals and humans.

The event will feature an array of activities and opportunities for individuals, families, and animal lovers of all ages to engage and show their support. Registration is $30 per dog (no limit to human companions).

Participants can expect:

  • A scenic walk around Meadow Breeze Park, showcasing the beauty of our community while emphasizing the unity in our shared mission.
  • Inspirational guest speakers who will shed light on the connection between animal abuse and domestic violence and how our collective efforts can make a difference.
  • Engaging booths and exhibits from local animal welfare organizations and domestic violence support networks, providing valuable resources and information.

Funds raised during at this event will go directly to supporting those affected by interpersonal violence, providing essential resources, emergency and safety crisis intervention, and support for those affected and impacted by abuse. “We believe that, like every human, every pet deserves to feel safe and loved. Unfortunately, there are cases where family pets become targets of threats, harm, or even killing, in an attempt to emotionally harm and coerce their human victims” stated DASACC’s executive director, Isela Arras. She continued, “by organizing this Dog Walk fundraiser, we aim to raise awareness about these issues and provide a platform for action. Together, we can stand up against abuse and create a safer world for both humans and their beloved furry companions.”

By participating in this event, attendees become active advocates in our vision to raise awareness and stop abuse and build stronger bonds of empathy and understanding.

We are creating a day of compassion, inspiration, and action. Together, let’s create a world where love, respect, and empathy become the norm for both humans and animals alike.
