The Warren Hills High School baseball team will face a different kind of opponent – and rules – when they take the field on Saturday Aug. 19.
The Blue Streaks will be taking on the Neshanock Baseball Club in a vintage baseball game with 19th century rules at the Washington Borough park’s ball field by the town pool.
This free community event will also include a vintage car show, artisan vendors, food trucks, music and more!
“A very unique ballgame, that’s for sure,” said Vincent “Enzo” Iannelli, Jr., President of the Washington Business Improvement District’s Board of Directors. “This game goes by the rules of the 1800s! No designated hitters, no ghost runners. It’s going to be a lot of fun. Something that the entire community can enjoy!”
The event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with the game’s first pitch set for 1 p.m.
There are still openings for vendors. Spots are just $20 each. Additionally, car enthusiasts can register in advance ($10).
The event, presented by the Washington Business Improvement District, is sponsored by Pasta Grill by Enzo in Washington and David Santini, CPA.
For vendor and car registration, go to washingtonbid.org or call 908-689-4800 for further details.
