The Warren County Community College Alpha Upsilon Rho Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the national honor society for two-year colleges, welcomed 36 new members into its prestigious ranks on Friday, March 29.
The students were eligible based on outstanding academic records and their commitment to educational pursuits.
“PTK members are among the top two-year students in the school and in the nation,” said Jean Vasko, PTK Advisor. “They have worked hard to make it to this level, showing dedication and perseverance. They have earned these spots.”
Phi Theta Kappa International is the honor society for two-year colleges and boasts members from throughout the country and abroad. Among the criteria for induction, students must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher. As a member of PTK, students are eligible to apply for Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Scholarships offered by more than 600 four-year colleges and universities located throughout the United States.
Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society promotes the values of Fellowship, Leadership, Service and Scholarship.
Dr. Anna Massimo, assistant professor of biology, shared wise words with the students as the keynote speaker at the induction.
Chapter officers Allan Martinez, President, Frank Wiggins, VP of Fellowship, Arleen Molina, VP of Leadership, Brenda Haycock, VP of Service, and other returning PTK members were also in attendance.
