This Weekend: Morris Canal Bus Tour Spotlights Local History

Want to know what this is? Catch a seat on the Warren County Planning Board's Morris Canal Bus Tour this Saturday!

Limited seating is still available for Warren County’s scenic bus tour of the Morris Canal on Saturday, Oct. 3.

The Warren County Morris Canal Committee conducts the 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. tour, which visits sites including Saxton Falls, Bread Lock Park, Plane 9 West and more.

This heritage corridor tour gives reminders of its glory days, with inland ports of call with names like Port Colden, Port Murray, Port Warren, Port Washington and Rockport, and descriptive identities including Fresh Break Lock, Guinea Hollow and Greene’s Bridge.

Seating is limited for the bus tour, and a picnic lunch will be provided along the way at the Jim and Mary Lee Museum at Plane 9 West, located on Route 519 in Stewartsville, Greenwich Township. The museum is located in the former plane tender’s house, which was the home of noted canal historian James Lee and his family for many years.

Cost for the tour is only $20! For more information, or to register, please call the Warren County Planning Department at 908-475-6532.
