“Cathy Miller’s People Pic of the Week” includes a host of aspiring performers at the Asbury Coffee Mill’s First Friday Open Mic last week. An attentive crowd enjoyed an evening packed with music (and one comedy routine).

Bottom row, left to right, Jeff DeAngelis, from Asbury, Mayor of Franklin Township, performs with his son Carson (on keyboards), and also plays guitar in Secret Treaty, an Allentown-based band; Mike Frank, from Stewartsville, has played guitar since he was 4 years old, now with his current band, Albert Savage, which has been touring up and down the east coast, and Will and Joanne Parker, from Asbury, had as much fun performing as the audience had listening, with Will’s 1948 trumpet adding an unexpected moodiness to their set.
