Summer Fun at the Warren County Library Branches

Virtual storytime continues on Tuesdays June 22 and 29 at 1 p.m. with Miss Lina reading stories and leading a craft. Registration with an email address is required to receive the link. Packets of craft materials are available at all branches. 

Three branches are holding outdoor storytimes. 

At Headquarters, Miss Gerrie and Miss Lina will read on Wednesdays June 23 and 30 at 1:30 p.m. in a shady spot near the building. Carpet squares will be available.  

Miss Morgan will read stories, lead songs and teach a small craft in the gazebo at the Catherine Dickson Hofman Branch Gazebo. Participants must bring chairs or a blanket. 

  
  
The Northeast Branch Pergola is the site of Miss Lindsay’s story and craft time. Seating is limited, so register with the name of each child and bring a blanket or chair.   All outdoor storytime programs are dependent on the weather.  Dan Gutman will present a virtual program on Saturday, June 19, at 1 p.m. The author of “My Weird School” and “The Genius Files” will discuss various books, read an excerpt from his next book and show students how to write their own story. He will end the program with a Q&A.  
 
On Tuesday, June 22 at 10 and 11:30 a.m.at the CDH Gazebo, children ages 5 to 12 will paint flower pots and planting bee-friendly flowers.  Also at the gazebo on Wednesday, June 23, at 10:30 a.m., children 5 to 12 will learn to make a mechanized bird using paper and their imaginations. They will also turn a paper plate into a soaring falcon. Caregivers for children less than 9 years old must remain.  A virtual program on Wednesday, June 23, at 4 p.m. will teach children 8 and older to create magic tricks, starting with a flea circus and a coin disappearing trick.   At 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 23, a virtual program will explore the cultural phenomenon of home DNA testing. Libby Copeland will present information from her years of research for her new book, The Lost Family: How DNA Testing is Upending Who We Are.  
An outdoor event called Eyes of the Wild will be held at the CDH Gazebo on Thursday, June 24 at 6:30 p.m. for ages. A variety of animals will be presented. All outdoor programs are weather dependent and registration is require for all program. To register log on to www.warrenlibrary.org.
