Summer Arts Camp returns to The Growing Stage for its 36th season starting July 11.

The Growing Stage, known as the Children’s Theatre of New Jersey, is located in the historic Palace Theatre, 7 Ledgewood Ave. (Route 183), Netcong.

The first in-person camp in two years will run through Aug. 12

The five-week camp includes daily classes in drama, dance, music and stagecraft with a Friday evening camp performance at the end of each week that represents the theme of that week. Families are invited to the performances which are also recorded.

Campers range in age from those registered for kindergarten in the fall of 2022 through those who complete eighth grade this month.

Lori Lawrence, director of educational programming for The Growing Stage, directs the camp. Staff with training and experience in theater, dance, music and education are assisted by high school and college students interested in pursuing careers in education, theater or the fine arts.

Growing Stage Executive Director Stephen L. Fredericks commented, “We’re thrilled to be able to bring back our in-person camp. This program has been an integral part of our ongoing work in arts education since we started 40 years ago. For further information or to register for camp, visit www.growingstage.com or call 973-347-4946.

The Growing Stage’s programs are made possible in part by funding from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts as well as private and foundation donations.
