Registration is now open for participants in the Sterbenz “Miles of Smiles,” a 5K run and 1K walk/roll/stroll for the benefit of Abilities of Northwest Jersey, Inc., on Saturday, April 30, from 9 a.m. to noon on the Community Trail at Warren Community College, 475 Route 57, Washington.
Runners and walkers can access sponsor forms on the Abilities website. Registration is free at abilities.salsalabs.org/Sterbenz2022. Donations may also be made on that site. The goal is to raise $15,000.
“We invite everyone to run, walk, roll, or stroll with us to support the empowerment and success of individuals with disabilities,” said event organizers Paul and James Sterbenz.
The 2020 inaugural event, which raised $12,000, was designed to benefit Abilities, while replacing running events that were canceled by the COVID-19 pandemic.
For the 5K run, check-in time will be 9 a.m., with a start time of 10 a.m. For the 1K event, check-in is 9 a.m. and the start time is 10:30 a.m. In the event of inclement weather, the event will take place on Saturday, May 7. Updates regarding the event can be found on the Abilities of Northwest Jersey, Inc. Facebook or Instagram pages at @abilitiesnw.
