Spooky Stuff at Warren Library Starts This Week

The Warren County Library Maker Club is gearing its STEAM projects to the spooky season.

The club is for children ages 5 to 12.

On Wednesday, Oct. 13, at 4:30 p.m., children will learn to make salt dough and how to use it to control a circuit. They will shape the dough into spooky Halloween ornaments.

On Wednesday, Oct. 20, during a Heroes and Monsters session, the children will make capes and monster plushies.

On Wednesday, Oct. 27, they will learn Halloween engineering and make a mini-pumpkin chunker and creepy circuit spider.

All programs are at the Catherine Dickson Hofman Library gazebo on 4 Lambert Road, Blairstown, weather permitting.

Caregivers for children less than 9 years old must remain with the children. Presenter is Sandy Roberts. Register with Kelly at kdurkin@warrenlib.org.

On Friday, Oct. 15, at 4:30 p.m. children ages 8 and up can learn to design a cemetery in a jar – complete with ghost at the gazebo at the Catherine Dickson Hoffman branch, 4 Lambert Road, Blairstown. The outdoor event is weather-dependent and social-distancing guidelines must be followed. Register with Christine at cwilliams@warrenlib.org.

Wanna Be A Tarot Card Reader?

A Thursday, Oct. 14 virtual event, at 6 p.m. will teach How to be a Tarot Reader. Presenter Victoria Anderson will teach the history of tarot and how to interpret the cards. Anderson uses her own “totally tarot method” which she says is more accurate and faster to learn than traditional methods. She uses a Rider-Waite deck on which 80% of tarot books are based. The Rider-Waite is the easiest, most symbolic and metaphysical deck available today, according to Anderson. Attendees do not need a deck to listen to the class.

Anderson has been teaching. Lecturing and writing about metaphysical topics for 50 years. She is author of “How to be a Tarot Detective.”

Registration is required for this adult program. Register with Kim Urban at 908-818-1280 or kurban@warrenlib.org.
