Summer’s nearing an end, but that means Rutherfurd Hall’s back in action-mode, providing activities all month long at (and near) the historic mansion.
The Allamuchy Country Fair starts tonight! Running through Sunday, this old-fashioned fair will be held nearby at the Waterloo Concert Fields on Waterloo Road. Family-fun at its finest, the fair includes classic activities like rides and game, as well as magic and reptile shows, nostalgic pie and corn eating contests, baking contests, music, and even a cornhole competition. A full schedule of events is located on the Rutherfurd Hall website.
Those thinking about retirement can join The Society for Financial Awareness on Sept. 10 or 12 at 6:30 p.m. for a free Retirement Readiness Workshop. Seating is limited and registration is required. To register, call (908) 852-1894 ext. 338.
Friday, Sept. 13, marks the conclusion of the Piano in the Parlour jazz series. The David Leonhardt Trio with Nancy Reed will perform. The show is $22.50 in advance or $27.50 at the door.
The monthly Adult Paint and (BYO) Wine Night will be held on Thursday, Sept. 19. The event is $25 per person and runs 7-9:30 p.m. The painting this month is a rustic, fall-inspired picture. All supplies, professional instruction, and light snacks are included.
Next, find a moment of inner-calm with Meditation with Jean Marie of Fostering the Journey. The hour-long meditation is 6:30-7:30 p.m. with an optional half hour yoga session preceding. Yoga begins at 5:50 p.m. This night of relaxation is Monday, Sept. 23. Tickets are $15 for meditation and $7 for yoga. Please bring your own mats.
On Wednesday, Sept. 25, join Joan Salvas, Rutherfurd Hall historian, at Panther Valley Golf and Country Club for a special lecture, “The Rutherfurds of Allamuchy.” For only $45, this special event will include a buffet dinner, dessert, coffee, and the lecture.
