Musconetcong Watershed Association River Clean-Up, Asbury
and other locations from Lake Hopatcong to the Delaware River
Michelle Nodes and her daughter, Hadley, from Greenwich Township, live on the Musconetcong River. The duo participated in their first River Clean-up last Saturday, April 17, in Asbury. Hadley, a member of the National Honor Society, needed volunteer hours, so she and Michelle volunteered for three hours of hard work along the river’s edge, wrapping up around noon to leave for Hadley’s cheerleader competition at Kalahari Resorts in the Poconos.
Fishing at the Musconetcong River, Asbury
According to N.J. Fish and Wildlife, April 10 at 8 a.m. was the official start of trout fishing season, with a daily limit of six trout. Kosta Marenoski, from Garfield, was fishing the Musconetcong River from the bridge in Asbury a week later, around 8 a.m. After a long week of work, he likes to make the one-hour drive to Warren County and have some fun and relaxation fishing. He’s been fishing the Muskie for 20 years, saying he “likes the river a lot, and it’s very clean.” He practices catch and release, waiting for the trout, and every once in a while catching a big eel.
21st Annual Virtual Run for the River
A new concept for the Musconetcong Watershed Association’s (MWA) annual footrace
May 1 – May 15, 2021
Hoping to inspire people to enjoy what nature has to offer, 2021’s MWA Run for the River has moved to a virtual event where participants can Run, Walk, Hike, Jog, Paddle, Fish or pick another activity and do it for a total of four hours. They have 15 days to complete their activity. Some ideas include: garden, mow the lawn, golf, photograph nature, pick up trash, swim, do something you love!
It is MWA’s goal to get a participant from every state in the nation, so share the event with friends and family.
