Rutherfurd Hall’s resident historian Joan Salvas will present a series of three lectures entitled “Miss Mercer, Master Franklin, Mrs. Rutherfurd and Mr. Roosevelt” on consecutive Thursdays Sept. 2, 9 and 16 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
The Tudor-style Country House was the home of Winthrop Rutherfurd and his family. His second wife, Lucy Mercer, was Eleanor Roosevelt’s secretary and was known to be close to FDR. The home is now a cultural center and museum operated by the Allamuchy Township School System.
The lectures will be on the Great Lawn. Visitors need to bring a lawn chair. The cost is $20 for the three presentations with proceeds benefiting Rutherfurd Hall. Rain dates will be the following Tuesdays. For more information or for tickets, go to www.rutherfurdhall.org, or call (908)852-1894 ext 334 or email jessica@rutherfurdhall.org.
