It’s the most wonderful time of the year…Festival Season! Time to break out the flip flops and dust off the lawn chair, jump in the car and go! I’m all about the live music experience and yes, it is an experience as well as an event.
In my opinion, Warren County, Northwest New Jersey, and the surrounding areas have the best outdoor and indoor music events.
April showers bring May flowers but April also brings 50’s & 60’s Rhythm and Blues to the Stanhope House for WNTI’s third annual Boogie Bash featuring the one and only Golden Gup & the Rhythmhancers. The Sunday, April 10, event is truly a step back in time to the era of great dancing, pompadour hairdos, poodle skirts, and saddle shoes. It will run 5 to 9 p.m. Visit The Stanhope House website for further information and tickets.
I can’t get enough of that mystical land called Slambovia. Saturday, April 16, at 8 p.m., the Slambovian Circus of Dreams travels to Roy’s Hall in Blairstown for a sample of what you will hear at WNTI Stage this July. This is a band that you must experience in order to appreciate. Trust me, you will not be disappointed!
Time to head outdoors on April 23rd for Centenary College’s 5th annual Earth Day celebration on the front lawn of the campus featuring vendors, demonstrations, and music. A really fun fashion show by the fashion students at Centenary will feature clothing made out of recycled materials. The event is free so bring the kids and spend a few hours. You may even learn how to cast a fishing line or tie a fly with Trout Unlimited.
The grand finale for the month is Hackettstown’s Spring Fest April 29-May 1 in the fields behind Centenary. If you haven’t seen an old friend in a while, come to Spring Fest, you are sure to run into them there!
That’s it for this month, time for me to start thinking about taking the cover off the pool.
WNTI.org is an internet radio station based out of Centenary College in Hackettstown.
