William E. Dunscombe, Jr., an expert on the Pine Barrens, is presenting a slide show presentation on arguably New Jersey’s most pristine natural asset, on Thursday Oct. 19 at The House of the Good Shepherd Retirement Community in Hackettstown. The talk, sponsored by the Socrates Cafe Group at The House, begins at 7 p.m.
While he is an expert on the Pine Barrens, sometimes called the Pinelands, of Southern New Jersey, Dunscombe, biology chairman at Union County Community College, has also developed innovative college courses from biology and health and wellness, to golf. The Pine Barrens encompasses about 1 million acres and represents the largest wilderness area anywhere on the east coast.
