Parent to Parent to take services on the road with new van

Parent to Parent's new Warren County Hope One Recovery Van.

Parent to Parent can now take its services on the road and be more accessible to all communities in Warren County. The brand new P2P Warren County Hope One Recovery Van was unveiled at a special ceremony recently at Smith Motors in Washington Township.

Parent to Parent Addiction Services, Inc., based in Washington, provides free services to individuals suffering a substance use disorder and may need help in getting into a detox, rehabilitation, or sober living program, as well as providing transportation to these places if needed. They also offer support to any loved one or family member of a person suffering with the disease of addiction and hold support and grief meetings twice a month. With its new Hope One van, they can take its message wherever it is needed.

Representatives from the Prosecutor’s Office, Sheriff’s Department, the state legislature, and law enforcement agencies were on hand for the unveiling event, as well as Parent to Parent board members and Recovery Coaches, financial supporters of the non-profit and many other dignitaries from the community.

Helen Carey, left, with co-director Debi Natale, celebrate in their new van, which will allow for mobile recovery services.

Co-Directors Helen Carey and Debi Natale expressed their appreciation for everyone’s support in believing in their vision and helping them obtain the specially equipped Ford Hope One van.

“We are very excited about this,” they exclaimed. “The Hope One Recovery van will be able to offer Mobile Recovering Straight to Treatment through our C.L.E.A.R. (Community Law Enforcement Addiction Recovery) program.”

Parent to Parent will be providing Narcan trainings with a free kit and offer other services and referrals to individuals or groups throughout the county.

The van will be located at various locations twice a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays, and is also expected to set up at town events, schools and additional public places.  (NOTE: Please call Debi or Helen at 908-223-1951 if you are having an event and would like this Hope One Van brought out and they will check availability.)

Parent to Parent was able to purchase this van with the assistance of Smith Motors Ford and a major foundation, grant, donations and fundraising.

“The P2P/WC Hope One Recovery van is something we talked about over two years ago. We realized that this program was so needed to provide recovery services to those most vulnerable, those homeless or in rural areas without access to transportation to come to our office for help,” said Carey.

Added Natale, “Thanks to the support of so many, we were able to make this a reality.  We can now reach more families and help save more lives by getting people into treatment quicker and offer HOPE because recovery can and does happen!”
