Project Self-Sufficiency presents a program for parents, caregivers, and other community providers to learn how childhood trauma impacts physical and neurological development and to discuss methods for improving health and well-being on Wednesday, Sept. 7, at 2 p.m.
Crisis Intervention Specialist Gabriella Rios, of the Somerset County Family Crisis Intervention Unit, will join PSS’s Haley McCracken for a virtual presentation: “Understanding ACEs: Building Self-Healing Communities.” The session will address the neurological and biological effects of adversity on development and its corresponding impact on the health of the overall population. Tips for protection, prevention, and promoting resilience within the community will also be discussed.
The workshop is funded by the state Department of Children and Families and led by Prevent Child Abuse New Jersey. The Zoom session is free and open to the public, interested participants are invited to call 973-940-3500 to receive log-in details.
Bankruptcy
Project Self-Sufficiency hosts a free, virtual bankruptcy seminar on Thursday, Sept. 8, 6 p.m. The seminar will discuss the process of filing for bankruptcy, as well as the options available to those facing overwhelming credit card debt, foreclosure, or asset repossession. The free legal education seminar is a program of the Journey Family Success Center.
