October Memorial and Walk Will Support Parent to Parent’s Hope Mobile Recovery Van

Take a step toward helping those fighting addiction at the 3rd Annual Warren County Memorial and Walk for Recovery on Saturday, Oct. 3, to benefit Parent to Parent Addiction Services’ mobile van services.

The event will include a walk around the Meadow Breeze Park trail in Washington Township, which is flat and easily accessible. Parent to Parent also invites participants to bring photos of loved ones lost to addiction to add to a memorial tent.  A special dedication to those lives lost will include an unveiling by the artist Chelsey Lindaberry of a 4×5 ft painting of a Hope Oak. The artist will have cardinals and butterflies to pin to the oak, which will later be replaced with the names of the loved ones submitted. 

Preregistration is encouraged. Early bird Registration will be available through Sept. 18 for $25, and then $30 up to the day of. Children are $10. Proceeds will benefit the C.L.E.A.R./Hope Mobile Recovery Van, which will be used to travel throughout Warren County on Community Law Enforcement Addiction Recovery Days. There, Parent to Parent Addiction Services Recovery coaches will be available to assist individuals who are suffering from substance abuse and their loved ones. Narcan kits and training will also be available, as well as information on other county resources.

Registration for the Memorial and Walk starts at 10 a.m. and the event will begin at 11 a.m. Music, speeches, and delicious food donated by Asbury’s Cotton Cattle Co. are also on the itinerary. Among the expected vendors is Mary Burns, author of Saving Eric, which chronicles her son’s battle with mental illness and addiction. Eric passed away in 2012 at age 22. 

Burns, a Sussex County resident who is an honored addiction advocate in New Jersey, was recognized as an Advocacy Leader in 2017 by the New Jersey chapter of the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence. 

Meadow Breeze Park is located at 22 Meadow Breeze Lane, Washington. Masks and Social distancing is required throughout the event.
