Take a Zoom adventure to the Southern Hemisphere with Patrice and Justin LaVigne as they discuss their book, “Between Each Step: A Married Couple’s Thru Hike on New Zealand’s Te Araroa,” courtest of the Warren County Library.
In 2014-15, they spent four months adventuring on the 2,000 mile-long trail from the North Island to the South Island. Their book, which is in the library catalog, addresses the questions: Would their relationship survive the journey? Or would the journey break them apart?
To join the book discussion on Tuesday, Feb. 8, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., contact the library at (908) 818-1280 or lschwab@warrenlib.org
Love Potion #9
What do strawberries, honey, saffron, watermelon and chocolate all have in common? They are all aphrodisiacs in one legend or another. History is filled with stories of lust and love inspiring foods, so just in time for Valentine’s Day, join this whimsical presentation highlighting cocktails that feature these ingredients and more. This adults only zoom event takes place Feb. 10 at 6:30 p.m.
During the virtual class presented by Tammy Coxen, you will have an opportunity to learn how to make the cocktails through a live demonstration as well as ask questions and show off your creations.
Participants will receive a selection of recipes in advance so you can acquire ingredients. A link to the presenter’s basic cocktail mixing technique video will also be emailed for those who wish to view it, for some basic instructions on things such as shake, stir and muddle, prior to participating in the live event.
Coxen is a professional cocktail enthusiast and the Chief Tasting Officer of Tammy’s Tastings. Since 2011 she has been teaching interactive hands-on cocktail classes to individuals, groups, and companies for events ranging from parties to corporate team building. Now she’s taken those classes online, exploring history, stories, and mixing techniques behind some of the world’s most famous cocktails. She is also co-author of Cheers to Michigan, a book celebrating the mitten state through cocktails.
