Washington Borough is clearly “on the map” these days.
In the last three months, the Borough has been highlighted in the media regionally and nationally.
“It’s been an incredible run!” said an elated Melanie Thiel, Executive Director of the Washington Business Improvement District. “People are definitely noticing Washington.”
A nationally televised TV ad for CarShield Insurance was filmed at Guy’s Service Station, which also included some downtown background visuals.
Not long after a CNBC crew came to Washington to film a segment on Frantoni Fashion for Men, which has been seen across the country. That segment also included clips of the downtown.
Most recently Fox 5’s Good Day New York did an Easter baked goods piece with Chef Sunny Anderson that highlighted Florestano’s Bakery. That segment was showcased in the Tri-State area which includes New Jersey, New York and Connecticut.
“You can’t pay for this kind of attention,” said Thiel. “It’s a testament to the great things that are happening in Washington.”
While many business communities have struggled to maintain their identity over the past few years, made worse by COVID, Washington has generally been able to hold its own despite challenges.
“We are confident that we are on the right track,” said Thiel. “We are on the verge of adding several new businesses. We are excited.”
In the coming weeks a new coffee shop, Beansie’s, is set to open downtown, And in the coming months, a craft brewery, Buttzville Brewing Company, Taco Bell and a mega CVS Pharmacy are also targeted for openings.
