Muscontecong Watershed Association Big Doings

Big doings with the Musconetcong Watershed Association recently. On Feb. 29, NJDEP Commissioner Shawn LaTourette was presented with a check for the DEP to help remove the Warren Mill Dam, a project on the organization’s to-do list for some time but needs state support.

In the photo, L-R, are Richard Cotton, President of the MWA, Sara Hatala with Watershed and Land Management, Bureau of Dam Safety, Tom Dallessio, Executive Director of the MWA, Commissioner LaTourette, and Dave Golden, Assistant Commissioner for state Fish and Wildlife.

Later that evening the MWA celebrated the historic Asbury Mill at its annual dinner at Hawk Pointe Golf Club. Chuck Gullage, seated in the above photo, was recognized as the 2024 Friend of the Mill for his efforts on its behalf over the years. He is joined in that photo by Board Member Bill Levens and Cotton.

Also honored that night were MWA staff members Alan Hunt and Ryan Jiorle. A retrospective on the mill’s history was related by Rudy DiGilio, a former worker there, and Jean Mayberry, who was the Secretary and Treasurer for over 40 years for Asbury Graphite, later Asbury Carbons, who had owned the mill.
