Multiple rounds of data collection and intensive monitoring around water quality have been completed by the Musconetcong Watershed Association (MWA) over the past several months – from Hampton to Bloomsbury in 2018, and from Hampton to Hackettstown in 2021. Additionally, monitoring salt in the winter, and temperature in the summer, are ongoing.
The MWA has scheduled a series of five community feedback sessions through mid-November to share the results of the monitoring. and gather community input.
The Flow Together Workshops will give Warren County residents an excellent opportunity to meet with MWA staff and gain insights into the River’s health.
Not only will topics of water quality and resource management be discussed, but the MWA hopes locals will share their priorities around this and other issues. Christa Reeves, Water Quality Program Manager, enumerated, “Flooding, development, zoning/planning, infrastructure (roads, bridges), how residents feel about their community, what makes it special, where does it need improvement – anything that’s important to them.”
Reeves explained, “With these Workshops, MWA’s aim is to develop a watershed management plan that takes into account current challenges and opportunities, utilizes the latest available data, addresses resilience in the face of a dynamically changing world, and above all, aligns with the unique needs of the community where people reside.”
