With a 12-7 win over arch-rival Warren Hills to sweep the local two-game series, the Hackettstown baseball Tigers completed their season with a 13-9 win/loss record, 5-5 in the Northwest Jersey Conference Freedom Division.
Warren Hills wrapped up the season 8-12, 3-8 in the Skyland Conference.
Hackettstown was led to victory over the Streaks by three runs batted in from Bernie Annor. Also keeping the line moving along the base paths were Matt Rowinski with three hits and JJ Buchanan with two runs scored.
Warren Hills made it a competitive game with the help of three runs batted in from Jack Fournier, three runs scored from Evan Mathew and two runs scored by Cody Miller.
Neither team made it past the quarterfinal round in state tournament play.
Hackettstown, the 11th seed in a very tough North Jersey Group 2 Section 2 bracket, was eliminated by sixth seeded Parsippany by a 3-2 score.
Warren Hills was knocked off in the North Jersey Group 3 Section 2 playoffs by a 3-2 score against the Green Tigers of South Plainfield, who were seeded fourth.
While the two local teams did not reach the heights they hoped to attain in postseason play, they had plenty of success along the way and the returning players can look forward with the hope that next year always brings.
