Mackenize Mravlag, 8, of Phillipsburg raised almost $1,000 for the Domestic Abuse & Sexual Assault Crisis Center of Warren County (DASACC) in two days recently. With the help of her older brother, Tyler, younger sister, Bianca, parents, and friends, Mackenzie set up a lemonade stand outside her home the weekend of Aug. 7 and 8. The children sold a variety of treats including lemonade, iced tea, and snacks, and donated all proceeds to DASACC.
“Mackenzie came up with an idea to host a lemonade stand to donate to a shelter,” shared Mackenzie’s mother, Jessica Mravlag. “After research, and past personal experiences, my husband and I chose DASACC to donate to.”
This isn’t the first time that the Mravlag children raised money for a good cause. In January of 2019, Mackenzie started a hot chocolate and cookie stand to help pay the bills from her dad’s emergency surgery after he suffered from a ruptured brain aneurysm. Later that summer, the kids were back at it again, running a lemonade and popcorn stand, and donating all proceeds to The Brain Aneurysm Foundation.
DASACC Executive Director Jill Zinckgraf thanked Mackenzie and all those who donated to provide food, clothing and other essentials.
