Knowlton Township has now become a key stop for those drivers of Tesla electric vehicles.

Last week the Township held a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the newest addition to the Delaware Gap Travel Plaza, Warren County’s first Tesla Supercharger Station. The Plaza, near Exit 4 on Route 80, is officially located at 19 Simpson Road, in the Columbia section of Knowlton Township.

Knowlton Township Mayor Adele Starrs and other officials, including Warren County Commissioner Jim Kern, were part of the ceremony, which also acknowledged Sam Milrom, owner of the charging station.

“Knowlton Township is proud to be the home of this Tesla electric charging station in Warren County,” said Starrs. “Not only does this technology provide drivers with the infrastructure needed for an alternative to gasoline, it offers those traveling to and from the surrounding metropolitan areas another reason to visit our beautiful town. We are proud to be a town that looks to the future and supports the businesses that call Knowlton home.”

The eight operational, state-of-the-art charging stations offer the fastest superchargers available nationally for Tesla electric vehicles. With a single, 15-minute charge, drivers can travel for an additional 200 miles. Plugging in is simple and charging is automatic; there is no need to swipe a credit card, Starrs said.

Kern added, “I commend Mr. Milrom, Mayor Starrs and Knowlton Township on this exciting announcement. Warren County is committed to electric vehicles and expanding our infrastructure in every corner of our county. With strong local leadership along cooperation with our State and Federal partners we will be able to achieve this goal.”

The Delaware Travel Plaza has been a major stopover for travelers for years needing fuel and food. The Travel Center currently includes Chick-Fil-A, Starbucks, Sbarra Pizza, and Auntie Anne’s.
