The Washington Borough Farmers Market is well prepared for Farmer Appreciation Day on Aug. 1, which will also include a special Mini Kids Fest!
There will be lots to see and do on this special day. Shop and celebrate local farms, who will be on hand to provide fresh Jersey produce, flowers, plants, and more! Then, listen to live music from Karen Kamenetsky, check out some real-life tractors from Smith Tractor, and meet a very special guest!
Who is this special guest? Imperfectphil! And who is Imperfectphil, you ask? A lovable local pup who enjoys hiking in Warren County and is the subject of the childrens’ book, “Philip T. Basher is Imperfectphil.” He’ll be joined by author Sue Steinhardt, who will be happy to sign books for Phil’s fans.
Children can then find inspiration for their own creativity by looking at beautiful rainbow pictures drawn by Memorial School students before making their own crafts with Dove Environmental. The craft theme will be “Keeping New Jersey Wildlife Habitats Clean of Litter!”
Farmers participating each week have included Bread Lock Botanicals (flowers and herbs), Dandy Lion Acres (fresh eggs, hanging baskets and plants, fresh produce), K&A Farms (Jersey fresh produce), and New Morning Farm (seasonal selection of produce and fresh-cut flowers). Warren Hills’ FFA program offers local honey, flowers, vegetables and plants.
Additional vendors include do good! goods (housewares made by impoverished residents of Appalachia), Girl Scouts (handmade soaps and crafts), Kilhaney’s Pickles, Shelly Rae’s (crafts) and Your CBD Store (CBD products).
The Farmers Market runs every Saturday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., through Sept. 26. Each week features a different musical act and/or theme, including Jessica Koppinger (Aug. 8), DJ Mitch spinning tropical tunes for Beach Day (Aug. 15) and Gary Reed (Aug. 22).
