The Kessler Foundation recently presented Abilities of Northwest Jersey, Inc. with a $38,000 grant earmarked for a program called “Ticket for Employment Success.” The program is designed to teach individuals with disabilities and their families the impact of employment on their Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits.
“Making the transition from SSDI and SSI to employment can be difficult to navigate,” said Abilities COO Susan Zukowski, noting Kessler Foundation’s support will help these individuals achieve their employment goals and increase their financial independence.
Abilities will use the grant to hire a Work Incentive Specialist to counsel individuals with disabilities and their families on financial and medical benefit decisions.
Abilities will also provide employment planning and career development services, as well as short and long-term employment supports to help individuals achieve successful and meaningful careers.
“Kessler Foundation believes that employment is fundamental to achieving independence and economic security, as well as personal fulfillment,” said Elaine Katz, Senior Vice President of Grants and Communications for Kessler Foundation. ”
