The Washington Borough Farmers Market heats up in the Dog Days of Summer with a host of special activities in August.
In addition to lots of vendors offering fresh fruit, vegetables, flowers, herbs and plenty of other goodies and products, visitors can enjoy tunes from This Old House, Kate & Paul and Dave “Doc” Watson, and a “Day at the Beach” with DJ Mitch Hess.
Soft rock favorites Kate & Paul are scheduled for Aug. 7, This Old House on Aug. 21 and Dave “Doc” Watson, whose band often backs up Alicia Keys, Aug. 28 on the music side, with DJ Mitch on hand for “Beach Day” spinning songs that take you to the sea. Aug. 21 also marks Senior Appreciation Day.
All the action takes place at the Washington Borough Farmers Market in the Downtown Pocket Park.
The Farmers Market, presented by the Washington Borough Green Team in association with the Washington Business Improvement District, each week features a different special activity or theme, including musical performers, DJs, senior and veterans days, and more.
Among the farmers market vendors this year are:
Pipers Hill Farms: Heirloom tomatoes, pumpkins, gourds, and butternut squash; K&A Farms: Jersey fresh produce; Bread Lock Botanicals: Fresh-cut flowers and flower arrangements, herbs, fruits, and vegetables; J&N Beekeepers: Local raw honey; Asya’s Boards of Charcuterie: Boards of charcuterie including assorted cheeses, meats, fruits, vegetables, and dessert boards; Dandy Lion Acres Farm: Farm fresh eggs, hanging baskets and plants, and fresh produce; and New Morning Farm offering a seasonal selection of fresh produce and cut flowers.
Also, Do Good! Goods, eco-friendly fair trade gift items made by people living in impoverished areas of Appalachia; Bang It Out Designs: hand-stamped metal objects including ornaments, bookmarks, chopsticks, keyrings, etc.; Cosmic Debris: handmade candles and wax sculptures; Dove Environmental Education: free environmental activities and crafts for kids with a focus on litter prevention; Gym Vixen Activewear: women’s sportswear, leggings, sports bras, and tops; Kaleidoscope Enrichment: Free science activities and crafts for kids; and Lola B Head Soaps and Soy Candles.
Additionally, other vendors include Honor Yoga of Washington; M Galleries; Peace Rocks 104: minerals, rocks, stones, jewelry, hand-engraved products, and a variety of crystals; and Zella Bella’s Gaggle of Giggles: face painting and glitter tattoos for both children and adults.
