These photos tell the story as Washington celebrated its second annual Day of the Dead event on Oct. 27. Presented by the Washington Business Improvement District, the Day of the Dead, originally a Mexican holiday, is typically celebrated throughout the Southwest, as well as in other parts of the country but has increasingly become more popular elsewhere. The family-friendly Washington event offered many activities as well as music by the Mariachi oro de Mexico band and the Disney animated movie Encanto.
