Centenary Stage Company’s 2021 summer season sees the return of the Front Porch series as well as a full line up of musical theater productions and concerts.

Here is a rundown of the shows that can be expected over the summer months at the professional Hackettstown-based theater, located on the campus of Centenary University:

Forever Plaid, Musical Series, July 8-18, starts at a pop group’s end. On their way to their first major gig, a four-man group is blindsided by a school bus. This musical comedy is a celebration of ‘50s music and days gone by.

Schoolhouse Rock Live, Jr., Young Audience Front Porch Series, July 14, brings the classic, musical education program to the modern stage.

The first of the company’s Twilight Cabarets, part of the Front Porch series, will take place on July 21, featuring a themed selection of musical theatre songs performed by Centenary University students, alumni and CSC veterans.

Always…Patsy Cline, Musical Series, July 29-Aug. 8, is based on a true story about Cline’s friendship with a fan who befriended the star in a Texas honky-tonk in 1961 and continued corresponding with Cline until her death in 1963, at age 30, in a plane crash. The show includes dozens of Cline’s songs—and even some audience participation.

Polkadots: The Cool Kids Musical, Young Audience Front Porch Series, Aug. 4, a production about acceptance made accessibly for young audiences.

The second Twilight Cabaret, Front Porch Series, will take place Aug. 11.

Closing out the season will be a special performance fundraiser for the Hackettstown Rotary Club on Aug. 21. The British Invasion is a concert that features much more than just the Beatles. In fact, it includes performers from both sides of the Atlantic from the iconic music era.

All Front Porch Series events will take place on the front porch of the Seay Building, located at 400 Jefferson St. in Hackettstown, on the campus of Centenary University.  Front Porch Series events are free with donations appreciated.
