HOTGS Discussion: Communicating With Alzheimer’s

Are you having trouble when you go to visit a loved one or a friend with Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia?  You often do not know what to say or do around them because they have trouble participating in conversations and activities that they used to enjoy.

On Wednesday, Oct. 5, The House of the Good Shepherd Retirement Community in Hackettstown will be holding a program on how to interact with someone who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia.  This program will provide practical techniques to enhance visiting; helping participants find new ways to communicate and interact throughout all stages of Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia.  It will go from 2 to 3 p.m. and there will be no fee for attending this program, however pre-registration is required.

The House is located at 798 Willow Grove Street in Hackettstown.

To register, please call Alzheimer’s New Jersey at (888) 280-6055. The House of the Good Shepherd offers an array of housing options for retirees, as well as physical therapy services. For more information about the House of the Good Shepherd, visit www.hotgs.org.
