The town of Hope invites area residents to “Go Green With Hope” at their annual “sustainable spring extravaganza” on Saturday, April 13, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Free to attend and open to everyone, whether you live in Hope or not, the environmental education day will be full of facts and fun with a focus on investigating and learning about reducing, reusing, and recycling in our homes and businesses, and keeping all of our neighborhoods green.
Planned activities include an opportunity to recycle and donate items sitting unused in your home, including an electronics waste collection (benefitting Abilities of Norwest New Jersey), which will accept household-size computers & accessories, printers, phones, and small kitchen and household appliances. Sheets, pillow cases, and blankets will be collected for Simple Quilts. Towels, blankets, cleaning supplies, pet food, and toys will be collected for area animal shelters. Clothing, housewares, books, and other usable household items will be collected for the Salvation Army.
Disposal services will also be provided. Project Medicine Drop through the county Sheriff’s office will collect unfinished and expired medicine and paper shredding services will also be on hand for sensitive documents.
An on-site free cycle area will also be offered. Drop off consignment-quality items on Friday, April 12, 5-8 p.m., including clothing, books, housewares, toys, and small appliances, and browse what others have left on Saturday.
Attendees can go home with free seedlings, radon testing kits, crafts, and more. Raffles and giveaways will also be going on throughout the day. There will also be shopping opportunities at the Green Market featuring local merchants.
Go Green With Hope will be held at the Hope Township School at 320 Johnsonburg Road. Please contact deputy clerk, Robin, at 908-459-5011×1 if you have any questions or would like to get involved, or email the Green Team at green.hopenj@gmail.com.
