Hope Students Tour Washington, DC, White House

For the past several years, the Hope Township Elementary School eighth grade class has made an annual trip to Washington, D.C. and as always, it was a terrific and memorable experience, culminating in a tour of the White House.

The students spent three days touring Washington’s historic spots, landmarks, and museums.

They were once again joined this year for one of those days by Hope Township Mayor Tim McDonough, who has been joining the students on the trip for over 10 years.  The Mayor joined the students on their tour of the White House.

“This is absolutely a great experience for the students,” said McDonough. “It’s a tribute to the school, the parents and everyone else involved that they can do this every year. It was an exciting, unforgettable trip for the students. Something they’ll remember forever.”

The highlight of the trip was clearly the visit to the White House.

“They were really amazed knowing that this is the home of the President of the United States!” McDonough said.

McDonough has always been a big supporter of the Hope Elementary School, frequently visiting on special occasions and taking part in a national reading event every year with the younger students.
