The Washington Farmers’ Market is all about eating healthy. On Saturday Sept. 7 they’ll be taking that focus even further.
In addition to purchasing farm fresh fruits and vegetables the Farmers’ Market on Sept. 7 will feature a host of special vendors and activities on health and wellness.
The weekly farmers’ market takes place every Saturday through the end of October, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The market is located in the center of Downtown Washington along Route 57, anchored by the Pocket Park.
Along with its usual array of vendors at the market, on Health and Wellness Day will be Carly Sopko, registered dietitian from ShopRite, who will bring recipes and food samples, Dove Environmental will have kids’ crafts and activities with a “Get Outdoors” theme, sponsored by Warren County Clean Communities.
In addition, there will be demonstrations: Qigong and Tai Chi demonstrations with Stan Cohen (Chi for Living) at 10:30 and 11 a.m.; a Jiu Jitsu demonstration with Esoteric Jiu Jitsu Academy at 12:30 p.m., and a Yoga demonstration with Honor Yoga, at 1 p.m. Visitors are invited to participate in the demonstrations.
The Farmers’ Market is sponsored by Smith Tractor & Equipment, Inc., Hairmazing, Crossfit WCG, Hackettstown Medical Center, Baker Federal Credit Union, Warren County Dental Center, and Home Instead Senior Care.
Throughout the Farmers’ Market season expect other special activities, live music events, and other fun programming. Upcoming events include an apple baking contest, Sept. 21, Pet Appreciation Day, Sept. 28, and Jazz Day, Oct. 5 with the Bob Noble Trio. The Farmers’ Market will also be onsite during Washington’s Festival in the Borough, Sept. 14.
