On Friday, October 6, the Hackettstown High School Lady Tigers Volleyball program hosted the Lady Tigers of Dover High School for their 3rd Annual Pink Game. All proceeds from the Tiger vs. Cancer Pink Game benefited the Joan Knechel Cancer Center at Hackettstown Medical Center.
Joan Westpy, chair of the planning committee for the Walk to Benefit the Joan Knechel Cancer Center at HMC and a member of the HMC Foundation Board, and Lisa Dimiceli, Manager of Community and Donor Relations for the HMC Foundation, kicked off the team fundraiser by speaking about the upcoming event. Unlike other similar walks, all funds raised from the walk stay local to provide high-quality cancer care close to home.
The evening began with HHS’ Junior Varsity with an exciting 2-1 win. The varsity game followed with HHS’ Lady Tigers losing a 2-1 heartbreaker.
The admission donations and bake sale raised $763.00. This money will go directly towards the Lady Tiger’s team goal of $2,500 for the Walk to Benefit the Joan Knechel Cancer Center. Over the past six years the Lady Tigers have raised over $11,000 for the Joan Knechel Memorial Walk. This year’s walk will take place on Sunday, October 16th at River Park in Hackettstown.
