Hackettstown held a ceremony on the anniversary of 9/11 honoring those who perished, and played special tribute to 1978 Hackettstown High School graduate Bruce Simmons. Simmons died while at work at the World Trade Center on that fateful morning. His sister Missy spoke to the audience about her brother and that day while his mother Flo listened during the ceremony. Mayor Jerry DiMaio began the day with his own remembrances, and also thanked the first responders in Hackettstown for their efforts day in and day out. Assemblyman John DiMaio, Jerry’s cousin, added his thoughts on 9/11 and what it has meant to the country ever since.
