RECOGNITIONS:
Congratulations to Warren Hills senior Nicole Mallard, of Washington Borough, who scored her 1,000th basketball point on February 2 in a home game against Franklin High School. She is committed to Rowan University, where she will continue to play basketball. She was celebrated on-court earlier this month.
The Warren Hills Debate Team (featured picture) won The New Jersey State Bar Foundation County Competition on February 1. The New Jersey State Bar Foundation Mock Trial Competition, now in its 37th year, is one of the nation’s foremost contests of its kind for high school students. One of its primary goals is to bring law to life for students through active preparation for and participation in the competitions. This year’s mock civil case, “Avery Mansion vs. Captain Kidd’s Pier,” challenged students to argue whether Captain Kidd’s Pier was negligent and the proximate cause tor Avery Mansion’s debilitating injuries that led to her losing her art scholarship at Rutgers University. Through the win, the Debate Team advanced to the Regional Competition at The New Jersey Law Center in New Brunswick.
Big congrats to the Warren Hills Girls bowling team, who are on a real streak. The team took home its sixth straight State Sectional Championship on February 2! The group three north sectional champions earned the title at Bowler City in Hackensack. Olivia Ostrander placed 7th overall with a 610 series to qualify for the individual state championships on February 15 at Carolier Lanes in North Brunswick.
Warren Hills Senior, Carlee Fisco, was elected last month into the New Jersey Association of State Student Council’s Executive Board. She was hard at work with the rest of the new state board during a recent transition meeting at Mercer County Technical Schools Health Sciences Academy. The transition meeting marked the official start of her position, which she will hold until February 2020. Next month’s meeting will be hosted at Warren Hills.
