From the Halls of Warren Hills: Dec. 19, 2020

PEOPLE

Warren Hills has announced the district’s Governor’s Educators of the Year.

At the high school, Gina Regan, school social worker with the Child Study Team, was named Educational Service Professional of the Year. Health and Physical Education teacher Josie Potter, who is also a field hockey and track coach, is the school’s Educator of the Year.

In the middle school, Educational Service Professional recognition goes to Hope Rinaldi, an alumnus of Warren Hills who has been a school counselor there since 2009. Gina Legora, a Special Education educator teaching 8th grade math, earned the Educator of the Year Award.

SPORTS

Several soccer players have earned recognition with Skylands Conference Awards.

Senior Brielle Gonzalez and Junior Maddy Morgan were named to the first all-conference team. Earning places on the second team are Senior Maya Slaven and Jr. Kayla Fernandez. Junior Bree Smith earned an honorable mention.

Senior Eric Paruta was named to the boys first all-conference team, Senior Griffin Renn to the second, and Junior Eamonn Hammond earned an honorable mention.

Senior Michael Fama continued his independent cross country running activities, earning 13th out of 108 runners in the East Coast Cross Country Championships in Holmdel (Monmouth County). He previously came in 4th overall at the Oak Ridge Park Invitational in Clark (Union County).

EVENTS

The annual Battle of the Food Banks was a success this year. The friendly competition between Warren Hills and Hackettstown sought to collect at least 1,000 non-perishable items to donate to local food banks. In all, the schools collected 1,177 items! The donation was split between food banks in Hackettstown and Washington.
