With over 700 attendees “frolicking” with excitement, Norwescap Child and Family Resource Services recently presented its 22nd annual Frolic in the Park at Walter’s Park in Phillipsburg. For over two decades, Norwescap has hosted Frolic in the Park, attracting children of all ages, their parents, and caregivers for an evening of outdoor fun.
Folks from Phillipsburg and environs gathered in the Park for children’s activities, music, and a slew of community resources…and hot dogs!
The Frolic kicked off at 5 p.m. and in the first hour, 400 free hot dogs had been served. The park buzzed with children laughing and playing, while parents and caregivers spent time chatting, visiting vendors, and engaging in child’s play alongside their kids.
The DJ deftly managed music and games like tug-of-war and sack races for the kids…with prizes for the winners.
The Phillipsburg Fire Department distributed kiddie firefighter helmets. The Unity Bank hot air balloon planned to give tethered rides, but the wind forced it to remain earthbound. The solar-powered, kid-sized carousel thrilled the children as they circled around jungle animals and tropical flowers. Inflatable axe throwing and a live band rounded out the two hour party.
Several vendors were Norwescap community partners, taking the opportunity to meet their neighbors. Norwescap shared information on their diverse programs and services, including support and resources for early childhood development, parenting education, and family support services.
What a way to celebrate community conviviality and the singularity of Phillipsburg – Norwescap’s 2024 Frolic in the Park.
